We create a lasting environment rather than one-off events, where elderly people stay active, find support and company, and remain part of the community.

About the foundation

We are People That Care For Israel, an amuta that helps elderly people in Israel not to live in loneliness. Since 2019 we have been creating ongoing programs and a space where people can meet, take part in activities, celebrate holidays and feel that they are needed and not forgotten.

Area 01

Celebrations and community

Concerts, birthdays, films and shared trips are all reasons to come together.

Back to areas ↑

Concerts

For many participants, a live concert has become a rare thing: tickets are expensive and concert halls are hard to reach. The foundation brings musicians to the community, so the concert takes place close to home, among familiar people.

Concerts create a festive atmosphere and a reason to meet. After the performance, participants stay on to talk.

6 concerts a year · up to 100 participants

Birthday Club

A person living alone often spends their birthday without guests or greetings. Once a month, the club brings together everyone born that month for a shared celebration.

Each person celebrating is congratulated personally, there is music and a festive table. No one is left alone on their birthday.

12 meetings a year · up to 70 participants

Nature trips

A trip out of town is not simple for an elderly person: transport, the route, the physical effort. The foundation takes care of the organisation.

Participants are taken to one of Israel's national parks and accompanied along a route chosen to suit the group. The day ends with a shared meal.

4 trips a year · up to 60 participants

Cinema Club

The Cinema Club is a reason to leave the house and spend time in company. Participants watch a film together on a big screen.

After the screening, the host opens a discussion about the plot, the characters and what the film brought to mind for each person.

Area 02

Body and health

Exercise classes and the Feldenkrais Method support mobility and confidence in movement.

Back to areas ↑

Exercise classes

With age, muscle strength and balance decline and the risk of falls grows. Regular classes help people stay mobile and independent in daily life.

Classes are led by a professional instructor. The exercises are designed for elderly people, and everyone works at their own pace.

Feldenkrais Method

The Feldenkrais Method teaches people to move more easily and with less tension. It is suitable for people with limited mobility too.

A specialist guides the group through slow, gentle movements. Participants learn to notice habitual tension and find more comfortable ways to move.

Area 03

Mind and spirit

Lectures and Torah study offer regular food for thought and a connection to tradition.

Back to areas ↑

Torah and Shabbat

The weekly meeting reconnects participants with tradition. The Torah portion is studied with a teacher, in an accessible way and with no prior knowledge needed.

After the lesson, participants sit down together at a shared Shabbat table. Shabbat becomes a time welcomed together rather than alone.

48–50 meetings a year · 20–30 participants

Lectures

Lectures keep curiosity alive and give people topics to think and talk about.

The foundation invites lecturers to speak about history, culture and tradition. After the lecture, participants ask questions and discuss what they heard.

Area 04

Creativity

The self-expression studio and Florentine sachet workshop: handwork and the joy of making.

Back to areas ↑

Self-expression studio

Creative work helps express what is hard to put into words and brings the joy of making something with your own hands.

In a small group, participants draw and do applied art with a teacher. No experience is needed: the process and the company matter most.

Donate

Florentine sachet

The workshop combines handwork and conversation. Working with fabric and thread trains fine motor skills and concentration.

Participants sew and decorate scented sachets. They take the finished pieces home or give them to loved ones.

Area 05

Support

The Women's Club: a space of trust and care.

Back to areas ↑

Women's Club

The Women's Club is a space where participants can talk about what matters and support one another.

Each meeting includes a cultural program and a shared brunch. Regular meetings help participants stay connected with each other.

Stories

Stories of our people

A Shabbat story

“They wait for me here every week, and that feeling hasn't faded over the years”

After moving to Israel, a participant of the Torah and Shabbat program went months with almost no face-to-face contact. An acquaintance invited her to a Friday gathering. She came out of politeness at first, and later because she wanted to.

Today she comes every week, helps welcome new participants and invites her neighbours herself. The regularity of the meetings has become as much of a support to her as their content.

Lev Posherstnik

Lev is a close friend of ours, a poet and an extraordinarily talented person. He welcomes us as close friends and loves us like his own family.

Irina Petrovna

Irina is one of the remarkable people in our organisation. In the Soviet Union she was an engineer working on nuclear submarines.

She adores Olya the younger and Olya the elder, calls them her little daughters and says that our warm gatherings are her ray of sunshine each week.

The Shlafer family

The Shlafer family are like our own family now. Anatoly always helps in any situation, and if you do something quietly without asking him for help, you can expect a separate telling-off.

We celebrate birthdays, holidays and important occasions together.
